Lucknow / Bangalore: Following the Babri Masjid, the Sangh Parivar is making similar claims of demolishing masjids and constructing temples in northern India. The Sangh Parivar has intensified its protests against the demolition of Muslim places of worship in Mathura and Kashi in Uttar Pradesh. The Sangh Parivar has even formed a committee for this in Mathura.
Following the Bhoomi Pooja for the construction of the Ram Temple at the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the Sangh Parivar has formed an organization called ‘Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Nirman Nyas’ led by eighty saints from fourteen states to reclaim the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. The Sangh Parivar has been claiming for many years that the Eidgah Masjid in Mathura is the birthplace of Krishna. Soon after the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was on the scene with calls for the acquisition of the Masjid land in Mathura. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad also has plans to use the Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura and the Gyanwapi Mosque in Kashi as campaign weapons ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and minister in Karnataka KS Eshwarappa came out with a public statement that the churches in Mathura and Kashi should be demolished and replaced with a temple which will be similar to what happened to Babri Masjid. Eshwarappa said that the day the Babri Masjid was demolished was a moment of joy and that temples would be built in Mathura and Kashi. Hindutva forces are fueling anti-Muslim activities through hate propaganda and calls for the demolition of the mosque.
